DEVELOPMENT SNAPSHOT #24

One tree can become a desk, a chair, or the paper that preserves a nation's decisions. Three actual resource cards—wood, furniture, and paper—reveal how a forest reaches everyday life and government.

Resource ID 13: Wood, a basic material that branches into many goods.

Choices arriving from the forest — Wood

Wood is registered as resource ID 13. It branches into furniture, paper, charcoal, tools, and weapons, connecting one stockpile to both daily life and industry.

Giving shape to daily life — Furniture

Preserving a nation's memory — Paper

The same wood does not lead to one future

Send it to furniture and homes improve. Send it to paper and records and administration grow. Tools and weapons offer still more choices. Where a limited material goes gradually shapes the character of a state.

The cards may be small, but behind them stand production facilities, inputs, water, demand, and transport. In Ashwind Chronicle, a policy story can begin with the most familiar material.
