Copper Ore, Insect Oil, Copper: Where Mine Meets Ecosystem

DEVELOPMENT SNAPSHOT #29

Copper ore from the mountains is not enough to make copper. In Ashwind Chronicle, insect oil refined from insect material fuels the process—an unexpected chain where mining meets an unfamiliar ecosystem.

A metal still waiting to be made — Copper Ore

Copper Ore is resource ID 2. It needs no production input and can be stockpiled, but ore alone is not usable copper. Refining it requires fuel from a very different production branch.

Turning insect material into fire — Insect Oil

Insect Oil is resource ID 196. One unit of insect material becomes stockpileable fuel, allowing an ecosystem far from the mine to support metal refining.

Where two supply lines meet — Copper

Copper is resource ID 176. It combines 1.0 copper ore with 0.15 insect oil into a stockpileable material. Mountain wealth and biological fuel finally meet here.

A mine alone cannot keep metal moving

Even with abundant copper ore, copper production stops when insect oil runs dry. Fuel alone is not enough either. Stable metal production depends on logistics connecting distant regions and different industries.

These three cards reveal several worlds behind a single material. The industrial game becomes richer whenever an unexpected dependency comes into view.
